When I first moved to Markham in 1996 one of the first things I did was open the Parks and Rec book to see what the local hockey scene was. Markham is well known for hockey and I was fortunate I joined the Markham Men Recreational Hockey League when I did.

For hockey enthusiasts in Markham, Ontario, this league is more than just a recreational pastime—it’s a community, a brotherhood, and a source of camaraderie that brings players together on the ice week after week.

The Spirit of the Game

What sets the Markham Men’s Recreational Hockey League apart is its unwavering commitment to the spirit of the game. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or lacing up your skates for the first time, the league welcomes players of all skill levels with open arms. From the friendly banter in the locker room to the exhilarating rush of adrenaline on the ice, every game is an opportunity to bond with fellow players and create lasting memories.

A League of Brotherhood

But it’s not just about what happens on the ice—the Markham Men’s Recreational Hockey League is also a tight-knit brotherhood off the rink. From organizing team social events to supporting local charities and initiatives, players come together to make a positive impact in the community. Whether it’s raising funds for a worthy cause or lending a helping hand to a teammate in need, the league embodies the true spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie.

Join the Action

If you’re ready to hit the ice and be part of the action, the Markham Men’s Recreational Hockey League welcomes you with open arms. Whether you’re looking to sharpen your skills, make new friends, or simply enjoy the thrill of the game, there’s a place for you in this vibrant hockey community. So grab your gear, hit the ice, and experience the excitement of recreational hockey like never before!

Why It's Different

Every year there is a draft so you get to play and bond with different guys.  The rules are made to encourage competition while making the game as safe as possible.  There’s no center ice so that opens up the game.  There’s no slapshots so you don’t have to worry about getting blasted.  Most importantly, there is NO FIGHTING.  If you lose your cool, expect your own team to explain the rules or find yourself out of the league.  If you’re interested in joining be sure to click the link. We are always looking for more players.
